↳ Cable Seal / Wall

Cable seal — wall

For all wall types and occupancy densities. Cable seals in walls are the most common form of penetration seal. Depending on wall type (concrete, masonry, drywall) and occupancy, different systems are used — we plan, supply and install.

↳ Requirements

What a wall cable seal must meet.

A wall cable seal closes a cable penetration in a fire wall fire- and smoke-tight. The fire resistance must match that of the wall (S30 / S60 / S90 / S120). Evidence is provided through DIBt approval (abZ) or European Technical Assessment (ETA). Installation must follow the manufacturer's instructions strictly — wall type, occupancy density and minimum distances are defined in the approval. Labelling with a seal plate is mandatory: manufacturer, system, installation date, installer. Without labelling the seal counts as defective.

↳ Wall types & systems

Concrete, masonry, drywall, aerated concrete.

Each wall type has its own requirements. We choose the system by approval — not by marketing.

01

Concrete wall

All systems usable (soft seal, mortar, modular). Minimum wall thickness usually 100 mm. Standard case in industry and commerce.

02

Masonry

Soft seal, mortar and modular systems. Plastered surfaces unproblematic; with non-load-bearing walls auxiliary structures may be needed.

03

Light partition (drywall)

Only with systems specifically approved for light walls — soft seal and some modular systems. Check approval carefully.

04

Aerated concrete

Soft seal and mortar with product-specific approval — not every system is approved for aerated concrete.

05

Single cables

Simple with mortar or soft seal — small penetration area, low occupancy.

06

Cable trays / ladders

Larger openings — usually soft seal or modular systems; plan reserve area for re-occupation.
