↳ Cable Seal / Retrofit

Retrofitting cable seals

Reliable remediation of fire protection defects — even during live operations. Open or defective cable penetrations are the most common fire protection defect in existing buildings. We retrofit: systematically, compliant, documented.

↳ What retrofitting delivers

Remedy the defect, document, hand over.

Retrofitting in the existing stock means: closing open or defective cable penetrations to standard — with an approved system, clean labelling and complete documentation for authorities and insurers. The trigger is usually a defects list after a fire inspection, a fire protection report or an insurance requirement. We come with a tablet, photographically capture every penetration, prioritise by risk and process the complete list in a single engagement — wherever possible without operational interruption.

↳ Typical triggers

Why owners and managers retrofit.

01

Fire inspection / fire-prevention inspection

Periodic walk-through by the fire brigade — usually with a defects list and a deadline.

02

Fire protection report

Expert assessment with concrete retrofit recommendations.

03

Official use requirement

The building authority demands adaptations — often as part of a change of use.

04

Insurance requirement

After a claim or at policy renewal the insurer demands evidence.

05

Property handover

New property manager or new owner — the stock is reassessed.

06

Periodic fire protection inspection

Within a maintenance contract defects are spotted that have to be retrofitted.

In six steps to a documented retrofit.

Transparent, scheduled, with a single point of contact.

    2 — On-site survey

All penetrations digitally captured, numbered, photographed. Free of charge.

  3. ↳ 03

    3 — Prioritisation & quote

By risk and effort — with a proposed schedule.

  4. ↳ 04

    4 — Execution

System-compliant sealing, coordinated with any live operations.

  5. ↳ 05

    5 — Labelling

Each seal with a plate: manufacturer, system, date, installer.

  6. ↳ 06

    6 — Documentation

Digital photo documentation, as-built plan, declaration of conformity — for authorities and insurers.

↳ Common defects in practice

What we find at walk-throughs.

01

Open penetrations

Tray through the wall — no seal. The most common finding.

02

Cables added later

Cables were pulled through intact seals without renewing the seal.

03

Wrong materials

Construction PU foam instead of fire-protective foam, ordinary mortar instead of fire-protective mortar.

04

Missing labelling

No seal plate or outdated labelling — the seal counts as defective.

05

Over-occupation

Too many cables in the seal — permissible occupancy density exceeded.

06

Damage from alterations

Seal damaged during refurbishment or renovation, not repaired.
